The Little Cupcakery is born!

I forgot to post a few weeks ago that I have finally registered my business name.
So THE LITTLE CUPCAKERY is officially opened for business! Yay!

Rose Cupcakes

My mum and Aunt from the USA were nice enough to get me some new cake decorating tools recently and the following cupcakes I made on the weekend were my play around creations using my new tools.
I especially like the daisy centres, primrose cutter and 5 petal rose cutter.
Thanks again Ang family and Mum.

Christmas Cupcakes

I made some christmas cupcakes for my sister's christmas party with her friends. They were all mini choc mud cupcakes iced with buttercream frosting. The cupcake toppers were xmas trees, holly, snowman and xmas wreath.

The snowman was a hit with the little kids.

Pink Blossom and Butterfly Cupcakes

Playing around with some left over cupcakes...I embossed small fondant butterflies and dressed it with a mini blossom.

Fairy Birthday Cake 'n' Cupcakes

This cake is my first birthday cake request. I found covering the 10" cake with fondant was quite tricky for me...I think I took too long rolling it out so I got some fine cracks on the icing.
The cake was white chocolate mud cake then iced with white chocolate ganache then the fondant.
The decoration were fondant blossoms and the fairy too was out of fondant.
The request also included 6 standard sized cupcakes, so I used the same blossom design as the toppers.

CUPCAKERY TIP #2: If you don't have pretty butterfly cutters to create the fairy wings, another way is to use a 5 petal blossom cutter and remove 1 petal. Pair 2 petals and fan it out to create wings. Then use a smaller size 5 petal blossom cutter in a different colour glue it on to the larger wing to create the two-toned fairy wings effect.

Uni 2008 Xmas Party Snowman Cake

Every year my husbands university friends get together to celebrate christmas. This year was particularly exciting as most of the little kids are able to play together. I made this snowman cake for the occassion. It is chocolate chiffon cake iced with chocolate ganache and decorated with a fondant snowman (inspired by aine2) and fluffly frosting snow and xmas trees.

It was a great day!

Upsy Daisy Cupcake Topper

My attempt at creating Upsy Daisy out of fondant for a little girls 4th birthday celebrations. This was very challenging as there are so many intricate details. She worked out in the end. Once I put her hair on, she really came to life. I'm glad I only had to do one.
I wasn't quite happy with the hand painted detail on her shirt as the colour started to run due to hot weather. I was using paste colouring. Not sure if there are edible paints that I can use for this.

Mr Happy Cake

This is the top cake for the Mr Men Cupcake series.

Mr Men Cupcake Toppers

This is my first attempt at making Mr Men characters out of fondant. It is for a 1st birthday party. Unfortunately I am not able to bake the cupcakes as I will be away on holidays so I offered to do the toppers in their chosen theme. I am also doing a top cake to match the cupcakes.

CUPCAKERY TIP #1 To create the hand, I used a small 5 petal blossom cutter. I joined 4 petals to form the fingers and the remaining petal as the wrist.

The Little Cupcakery Video

My first post...I am still very new to blogging, so bear with me.
I found this awesome website (thanks to Wil) that creates video slideshows and presents your pictures with music. So I created a little video montage to showcase my cupcake towers, just to try it out.
It's only very short but I hope you enjoy it.
